The trade-off
On-prem requires an install + ongoing patches + backups. We've made that as low-friction as possible (signed Windows installers, macOS launchd, Docker compose) but there's a real ~15 min setup per host. In exchange: your data stays yours and your cost stays predictable.
When SaaS is the right choice instead
We're honest about this: if your firm doesn't care where data lives, has no compliance concerns, and prefers subscription pricing — SaaS time trackers (Harvest, Toggl, Clio Time) are simpler. TimeTrack Pro wins on data residency + cost predictability, not feature breadth.
